Friends & Family of Burlescombe School
The AGM of the Friends & Family of Burlescombe School will be held on Tuesday 3rd October at 7.30pm; everyone welcome, please come along to support your child?s school and find out what events are planned for the coming year.

Cycle / Walk / Bus Challenge
The next Cycle, Walk Bus Challenge will be on 11th October.

Macbeth
DVD?s of our production of Macbeth will be available shortly at a cost of £8. To reserve your copy please return the slip at the bottom of this letter together with your money to the school office as soon as possible.

Oak Class Homework Logs

Well done to all the children and parents who have been recording reading, mental maths and project work in their red homework logs.
These books are handed in on Monday mornings to be checked by Mrs. Bray.
Unfortunately some logs are still completely blank. We are therefore not sure if children have done nothing at home, or if the parents are unaware of the log or what has been done in it. (There is an example on the back cover).
Please ask your child about their homework log and sign the slip below to say that you have seen it and are aware of what to do with it.

Book Fair

Headteacher Awards

Teaching Awards National Final
Sue and several governors and parents are going up to London for the Teaching Awards National Final which will be televised on the BBC on Sunday 15th October. We are one of the 14 finalists nationwide which means we are competing against some very big schools. A big thank you to all parents, governors, children and staff ? your team effort has got us this far.


Cycles on School Site
All children have been asked to walk and not cycle on school grounds. Please help by ensuring your child gets off their bike at the school gate.

School Photographer
The school photographer will be coming to take individual photographs of the children and family groups on Tuesday 10th October.

Smile International
This year we are taking part in the shoebox appeal for Smile International.
For information on where the boxes go etc see www.smileinternational.org
I have a supply of leaflets in the office giving details of what to do.
ALL BOXES HAVE TO BE IN BEFORE WE BREAK UP FOR HALF TERM.
If you would like to take part in this very worthwhile scheme, and provide a present for child who otherwise will probably receive nothing at all, please call into the office for a leaflet.

Webb Ivory
We are running the Webb Ivory Christmas catalogue again this year to raise money for school funds. If you would like to help us by ordering your Christmas cards, paper etc from this catalogue please ask Anne for a catalogue.
Litter Pick
This Parish is taking part in the ?Clean Green Mid Devon? litter pick on 28th October. If you would like to join in please contact David Beard on 01823 672907.
